Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Wilton. Pastor Jim Turner and Pastor Gertie Nichols of Sweetland Methodist Church will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Ronald Rathjen, Dan Marine, Jake Marine, Jason Noble, Tyson Geertz and Luke Noble. Read More	WILTON, Iowa — Alvin Lawrence Marine, 88, of Wilton, died on Friday, February 18, 2011, at Carrington Place in Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Wilton. Pastor Jim Turner and Pastor Gertie Nichols of Sweetland Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at the Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, and one-hour prior to the service at United Methodist Church in Wilton. Memorial donations may be made to Sweetland United Methodist Church in his memory. Alvin was born on December 2, 1922 to William and Katherine Ayers Marine in Muscatine County. He married Margaret Eileen White on August 16, 1943, in West Liberty. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1988. He later married Phyllis D. Noble of Wilton on September 28, 1991, in Sweetland. Alvin farmed his entire life in Muscatine County. He was a member of Sweetland United Methodist Church where he was a past member of the finance committee. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wilton, where he had served on the Parish council. He was a member of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau where he was a former board member and had served on the Muscatine County Extension Council. In 2009 he was recognized by the Muscatine County Fair Board for attending the fair for 87 consecutive years. Family and farming were his life. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Marine of Wilton, his daughter, Inez Marie Rathjen and husband, Leon, of Wilton; his son, Larry Marine and wife, Karen, of Wilton, his step-daughter, Connie Tansey of Burlington; his step-sons: Jim Noble Jr. and wife, Judy, of Muscatine, and Jeff Noble and wife, Barbara, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and his brothers-in-law, Kirk Grunder and Ed White. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and his sisters, Dorothy Gillespie and Elizabeth Ann Grunder.
