Description	:	Alvin Moritz, oldest son of Joseph and Myrtle Moritz, was born August 3, 1890, at Grafton, Neb. He departed this life at the Veteran's Hospital at Grand Island, Neb., June 23, 1958, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 20 days. He enlisted in the United States Army April 29, 1918, at Geneva. Read More	Alvin Moritz, oldest son of Joseph and Myrtle Moritz, was born August 3, 1890, at Grafton, Neb. He departed this life at the Veteran's Hospital at Grand Island, Neb., June 23, 1958, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 20 days. He enlisted in the United States Army April 29, 1918, at Geneva. He left with the A. E. F., as a private and went to Europe June 4, 1918. He served in Company C, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. He was wounded in action November 3 of the same year. He was returned to the United States March 26, 1919 and April 15, 1919, he was honorably discharged at Camp Dodge, Ia. He was the proud holder of the Victory Medal with three campaign bars. November 15, 1919, he was united in marriage to Anna Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Miller of Exeter, and they established their home in Grafton. To this union three children were born, Robert, Melvin and Marian. Except for his time in the service, he spent his entire life in Grafton. He leaves his sons, Melvin of Grafton, Robert of Chapman and Mrs. Marian Cockrell of St. Paul, Minn.; three granddaughters, one grandson; two brothers, Guy of Grafton and Frank of Lexington; many other relatives and friends. Mr. Moritz's health had been failing for some time and June 7, he entered the Veteran's Hospital at Grand Island, where he passed away. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers, Mathias, Bertie and Eli. Memorial services were held from the Grafton Congregational Church Friday, June 27, at 2 p.m., and were conducted by Rev. Maude V. Mann, who also sang two hymns, "Jesus Whispers Peace" and "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Miss Delores Ronne accompanied her and played the other music. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery.
