Alvin Olof Anderson was born March 10, 1917 in Milford, Nebraska to Ollie and Anna (Plessel) Anderson, the 5th of 8 children and passed away, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Crestview Care Center in Milford at the age or 97 years 5 months and 2 days. As a young boy Alvin attended Milford Public School, graduating with the class of 1935. After his high school graduation, Alvin began a long career with the railroad. He enlisted into the US Army in 1942 and served overseas. While serving in England, Alvin met the love of his life and was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Chilvers on June 15, 1944 in Burton-on-Trent. He was later sent to the Philippines where he was discharged in 1945. Alvin returned to Milford where he and Dorothy made their home. Alvin returned to the railroad working as a section foreman until his retirement in 1982. After Alvin's retirement from the railroad, he enjoyed a part-time job at Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church, was active in the church choir, and enjoyed participating in the men's singing group, "Relative Harmony" for several years. Alvin was also a member of the4 Masonic AF & AM, Blue River Lodge #30 for many years. Alvin is survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, Charles and Beverly Anderson, Lincoln, Margaret Anderson, Gresham, OR, Dorothy's sisters and brother living in England, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy in 2004, his brothers, Alfred, Andrew and Harry, sisters, Edith Jantzi, Hannah Allison and Mabel Hoge, sisters-in-law, Helen Anderson and Ann Anderson, brothers-in-law, Charles Allison, Joy Hoge, and Roman Jantzi.
