Description	:	KOHLER, ALVIN WAYNE—Alvin Wayne Kohler was born to Frank M. Kohler and Rose Strauss Kohler on February 11, 1925, at Glengary township, and passed away on June 26, 1986, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was one of two children in the family. As a child, Alvin attended country school in district 2. He graduated from the Geneva Public High School in 1942. He was one of two children in the family. As a child, Alvin attended country school in district 2. He graduated from the Geneva Public High School in 1942. It was during these years that he began to play the tuba which gave him so many years of enjoyment. After farming for a short while he entered the Army in December of 1944. He was a member of the First Calvary Band in Japan. Al returned home in October of 1946, and married Norma J. Hospodsky of Milligan on November 28, 1946. For a short time Al and Norma lived in Crete, but later returned to the family farm east of Geneva. During their years on the farm, their three children were born. It was also during these years that Al was a member of several polka bands. In 1961, the family moved to Geneva, but Al continued farming. In 1971, Al joined the staff of the Geneva Youth Development Center and farmed part time. He retired from the YDC in December of 1985, and planned to continue to farm with his sons. All was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, served as treasurer of the district 2 School Board, was a member of American Legion Post HSSK 240 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 7102. Anyone who knew Al knew how much he enjoyed his garden and fishing. His family played an important part in his life. He spent many hours with them laughing at their antics and taking pride in their accomplishments. He is survived by his wife, Norma of Geneva; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Watt and her husband, Terry of York; sons, Robert and wife Karen, of Milligan and Richard and his wife Nancy, of Geneva; five grandchildren, his parents, Frank and Rose Kohler of Geneva; and his brother Virgil. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva on Saturday, June 28, with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Apley accompanied Mark Hecox who sang “In Heavenly Love Abiding” and “Amazing Grace.” Those serving as pallbearers were Norris Bernasek, Lloyd Schelbitzki, Edwin Vavra, Milton Vavra, Leslie Vavra, Stuart Vavra and Tom Votipka.
