Mrs. Hartman was an extremely talented seamstress and enjoyed handicrafts and quilting. She donated many of these projects to the church bazaars, family members and friends. Mrs. Hartman was first employed at Woolworth's for 10 years, then by the state of Kansas for six years. The last 21 years of her employment was at Forbes Air Force Base, where she retired in 1973 as a supervisor in the Key Punch Department. Mrs. Hartman was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She married Jack Hartman on Oct. 9, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Topeka. He died April 23, 1972. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Porubsky and Dorothy Skelton; and two brothers, Everett and Wes Porubsky. Mrs. Hartman is survived by one sister, Julia Porubsky Etzel and her husband, Ray Etzel, Topeka; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. "Andy" was blessed to have many caring friends at Lexington Park these past two years. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Hartman will lie in state after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 2700 S.E.
