Alvina Bohlken was born Nov. 6,1911 in Wayne Township, Jones County, IA, the daughter of Benhart and Anna Marie Weers Bohlken. She received her education in the rural schools near her home. Alvina Bohlken and Ervin B. Wilken were married June 24, 1936 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne, Jackson and Fairview Townships of Jones County. Ervin died Jan. 13,1970. In 1971, Alvina moved from the farm and made her home in Anamosa. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church, and the Friendly Circle. She is survived by three children: Merlyn Wilken of Anamosa, Janice Goodyear of Langworthy and Elaine Pruess of Lowden, eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by a sister, Eileen Schulte of Fairfax. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers. Casket bearers were Wayne Bohlken, Gary Bohlken, Irv Bohlken, Gerald Dirks, Everett Lehrman and Mike Morgan. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, was in charge of the arrangements.
