Death of Mrs. Glenn Alvira Francis Gaines was born Aug. 26, 1850 and died Dec. 6, 1918 at her home near Lentner, age 67 years, 4 months and 2 [sic] days. She was married to Robert Glenn Oct. 29, 1875, he having passed away Feb. 7, 1899. She united with the Methodist church when very young and lived a pure christian life until her death. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and was a kind indulgent mother, who bore her long suffering with much patience. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Susan Prather, one son, James E. Glenn both of Lentner and two sisters, three brothers and four grandchildren to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held Sunday Dec. 8. Interment at Bacon Chapel cemetery. Dearest sister thou hast left us, And thy loss we deeply feel, But the God who has bereft us Can all our sorrows heal. Mrs. Robert Glenn died at her home just southwest of the Chapel Saturday and funeral was preached at the church Sunday at 11 by her pastor Rev. C. H. Werner. She was buried in the cemetery here by the side of her husband, who preceded her a number of years ago. She had been in very poor health for a long time. She leaves to mourn her departure one son James who lives with her, and one daughter Mrs. Susie Prather and a host of friends. She was a good christian woman and a member at Bacon.
