She was born May 28, 1881 in Columbus to Henry D. and Gesine Kunneman Luers. A 1900 graduate of Columbus High School, she attended Chicago University and taught in Columbus public schools 10 years and at Wayne State Teachers College about 30 years. She also lived in Lawton, Okla., for some time. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, Wayne. In Columbus she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, LWML, City Ladies Aid and Immanuel Circle. Surviving are one brother, Walter of Grand Island; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Emma) Loseke and Mrs. Earl (Elsa) Speck of Columbus; a foster daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Bonnie) Smith of Reno, Nev.; 13 nieces and nephews. A brother, Adolph, died in 1964 and a brother and sister died in infancy.
