She passed away peacefully at Ridgevalley Seniors Home, Crooked Creek, Alberta, on February 27, 2009, at the age of ninety years. She passed away peacefully at Ridgevalley Seniors Home, Crooked Creek, Alberta, on February 27, 2009, at the age of ninety years. Mother spent her childhood years at Sunnyslope, Alberta, living with her large family and working on the farm and cleaning the twelve-room house. She gave her heart to the Lord at the age of thirteen and was baptized in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Linden, Alberta, in the year of 1931. In 1941, together with her parents and younger siblings, Mother moved to Crooked Creek, Alberta. It was here she married her life's companion, Den Reimer, on March 1, 1942, sharing life's joys and sorrows for sixty years until Dad's passing in 2002. Mother was a lover of flowers and always had a vegetable garden and enjoyed her fruit trees. She was known for her fresh vegetable soup in spring and all her nutritious meals. In hard times, she did what she could with whatever resources she had. She loved singing, often talking of how a song would help her through a hard time, especially in the last month of her illness. While we sat with her and cared for her during that time, she would often burst forth singing, "Meet Me There," "Where We'll Never Grow Old," or "I'm Going Home Tomorrow." The loss of her daughter, Fay, in 2006 left her longing to meet her loved ones again. As her time was drawing near, she expressed having peace with God, yet feeling her unworthiness. We always felt her love, prayers, and concerns for us all. We cherish the assurance of her salvation and are comforted that she has gone to her eternal rest. Left to cherish fond memories are: Dyann and Les Toews, Linden, Alberta; Ruth and Brian Reimer, Steinbach, Manitoba; Estella and Orrin Toews, Silver Valley, Alberta; Marilyn and Jeff Dueck, Creston, British Columbia; Gerald and Bev, Valleyview, Alberta; Cheryl and Les Bignold, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Calvin Reimer, Crooked Creek, Alberta; and one son-in-law, Harold and Kathy Isaac, Crooked Creek, Alberta. She also leaves thirty-two grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred and Adelaide Schartner, Grande Prairie, Alberta; two sisters: Ida Reimer, Enderby, British Columbia, and Rozella and Alvie Esau, Grande Prairie, Alberta; and many other relatives and friends. Her husband, one daughter, one grandson, her parents, seven brothers, and nine sisters preceded her in death. The funeral service was held at the Rosedale Mennonite Church, Crooked Creek, Alberta, on March 3, 2009. Interment was in the Rosedale Cemetery, Crooked Creek, Alberta. Officiating ministers were Dennis Toews, Trev Penner, and Wilbert Thiessen.
