He was raised and educated in the Raleigh, ND area. He married Alice Ternes, to this union 5 sons were born. Amandus farmed in the Shields area before going to work for Morton County as a heavy equipment operator. In 1960 he moved to the West Coast where he worked for the telephone company until he moved back to Flasher, ND in the mid 1970’s. Amandus continued to live and work in the Flasher area until this past year when he moved to Mandan. Amandus had an amazing sense of humor which drew people to him. He enjoyed life to its fullest. He liked to drive around the country side enjoying North Dakota’s natural beauty. He loved to play cards, shoot pool and garden. His family and friends were always important to him and he loved spending time with all of them. Amandus was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Katherine Winter; son Darold Kuntz; brothers, Leo, Baselius, Rev. Edwin Volk and an infant brother, Michael; brothers-in-law, Ernest Scheetz, Allen Schriock, Adam Braun, Pius Braun, Gerald Moran, John Vetter and sister-in-law, Elaine Volk.
