Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend John J. McGuirk officiated the service, with burial in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery, Odebolt. Born October 17, 1910, in Breda, Iowa, Ambrose Henry Snyder was the son of Frank and Maggie (Coon) Snyder. He attended country school and Wall Lake High School. On April 23, 1936, Ambrose was united in marriage to Alice M. Cranston in Odebolt, Iowa. The couple farmed near Odebolt until 1957, then moved to a farm south of Arthur where he lived in his home until his death. Ambrose will be remembered as a wonderful, prayerful man who was devoted to his dear wife and five children. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt. Left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are five children, Marlene (Sal) Vella of Arvada, CO, Bonnie (Ed) Struchen of Meadowlakes, TX, Marilyn (Robert) Lenz of Odebolt, Daniel (Jane) Snyder of Odebolt, and James (Diane) Snyder of Grants Pass, OR; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice in 2005; his parents; and all of his brothers and sisters.
