Her husband Michael Floyd, died in 1870. They were married in Ohio and moved to Iowa in 1866. In the early spring of 1871 they came to Cowley county and settle near Maple City. In the fall of the same year their oldest son, Henry was killed by the Indians about a hundred miles south of their home. Out of the family of ten children six are still living.... Floyd, of Fredonia, I.N. Floyd, of Omaha; C.A. Floyd, of Kansas City; T.J. Floyd, of Winfield; Mrs. Martha McNett, of Winfield, and Mrs. Lydia Wells, of Grenola. "Grandma" Floyd has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Martha McNett, for a number of years. For the past four years she has been too badly crippled to walk, but sh has been very industrious. Her busy hands have pieced over sixy quilts during that time. The funeral will be held at ten o'clock Friday morning from the McNett home at the corner of Third and Iowa.
