Dr. T.J. Floyd died at his home at 1222 John Street early the morning of Sunday, May 31, 1908, after a lingering sickness of many months. Though but fifty-eight years old at the time of his death, he had been a soldier in the Civil war, one of the youngest of the men who wore the blue in the great struggle. He and other members of his family were early settlers in the southeast part of Cowley county and one of his young brothers was killed and scalped by Indians when out on a hunt about thirty-five years ago. The doctor learned typesetting on the Courier in its beginning and afterward followed the printing and newspaper business in various parts of the state until seven or eight years ago he took up osteopathy and opened an office in Winfield where he practiced until his own ill health compelled him to desist. He is also a member of the A.O.U.W. - Winfield Courier
