Description	:	Mass of Christian Burial for Amelia LaPlante, 83, of Chamberlain and formerly of Eagle Butte, will be Friday, April 25, at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte with Father Brian Lang officiating. Burial will follow at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Amelia LaPlante was born Nov. 12, 1924 to Sidney and Kate (Livermont) LeBeau at the Old Cheyenne Agency. She grew up on her parents' ranch on Moreau River south of Timber Lake and attended boarding school at the Old Cheyenne Agency. Amelia married George Donald LaPlante and to this union three children were born, Georgia, Duane and Tony. Amelia lived at the Old Agency until 1959 when she moved to Eagle Butte. On Dec. 28, 1973, she married Charles Victor LaPlante and the couple made their home in Eagle Butte until 1981 when they moved to Sturgis. A short time later they moved to Nisland and in 2002 they settled in Rapid City. Following Charles' death in 2004, Amelia lived in Lower Brule and Oacoma before moving to the Sanford Mid Dakota Care Center in Chamberlain in March 2007 where she resided until her death. Amelia worked for the BIA as a cook at the Old Agency and Eagle Butte schools for many years. She is survived by a son, Tony (Candy) LaPlante, Albany, Ore.; a daughter, Georgia Amiotte, Oacoma; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Charlotte Conn, Wills Point, Texas, Esther Thompson, Eagle Butte, Lila (Wilber) LaDue, Belle Fourche, and Caroline (Myron) Thorsen, Aberdeen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles in 2004, one brother, four sisters, one son-in-law, Marvin, and one grandson. Casketbearers will be Sidney LaPlante, Coy Amiotte, Wilbert LaDue, Daris LaPlante, Justin LaPlante and Bob Kessler. Mobridge Tribune April 23, 2008
