Description	:	Amelia Pohlman was born in 1863 in very probably the town of Coxsackie, located on the westbank of the Hudson River, about 110 miles north of the city of New York, Greene County, in the eastern part of the State of New York, the fifth child and second daughter of Frederick Pohlman and Charlotte Williams, who emigrated in July 1852 from Germany to the USA. In 1865 Amelia Pohlman (2 y), her father Frederick Pohlman (35), her mother Charlott (39), her siblings Carl M (11), John F (9), William H (5), Louisa (4) and her grandfather John F Pohlman (64) were living in Coxsackie, Greene County, New York State. About 1866/1867 the family Pohlman moved from Coxsackie, Greene County, New York State to Clayton County, in the northeastern part of Iowa. In September 1867 they lived very probably in or near the small city of Farmersburg, located about 10 miles southwest of the city of McGregor, that lies on the westbank of the Mississippi, Clayton County, Iowa. In July 1870 Amilia (7 y, born in New York State), her father Frederick Pohlman (41, born in Waldach [?], Germany, farmer), her mother Charlotte (46, Waldach [?], Germany), her siblings [John] Frederick (14, New York), William (12, New York), Louisa (9, New York), Carlotta (5, New York), Carl (2, Iowa) and her father John Pohlman (70, Waldach [?], Germany, farmer) were living in Mendon Township, Clayton County, in the northeastern part of Iowa, located on the Mississippi River. On 18 February 1881 Amelia Pohlman married in Iowa at the age of 18 years to the four years older John Albert Orr. On 14 November 1883 Amelia Pohlman and John Orr Jr had in Mendon Township, Clayton County, Iowa son Albert John Orr [Find A Grave Memorial #60356547]. A good two weeks after that birth, on 4 December 1863, Amelia died at the age of about 20 years in Clayton County, Iowa. In June 1900 Albert J Orr (17, born in November 1883 in Iowa, farm laborer) was living with his grandparents John Orr (75, Ireland, farmer) and Ellen R Orr (64, Pennsylvania) at their own farm in Mendon Township (excl. McGregor city), North McGregor & West McGregor towns, Clayton County, Iowa. On 6 June 1906 Albert J. Orr, born in McGregor, Clayton County, Iowa, son of John A. Orr and Millie Poleman, married in McGregor at the age of 22 years to the about three years younger Anna F. Skinner, born in Monona [Wisconsin], daughter of William Henry and Millie J. Howe. On 19 January 1918 Albert J. Orr, born in Clayton, Iowa, son of Jno. Albert Orr and Millie Pohlman, remarried in Mason City, seat of Cerro Gordo County, in the northern part of Iowa to the 23 years aged Ruby M. Saylor, born in Pittsfield, Illinois, daughter of J.A. Saylor and Jennie Lindsay. Albert J. Orr died in May 1935 at the age of 51 years in Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Edited in February 2015 by Peter Hakze, Nederland.
