She lived in the communities of Oak, York, and Sutton while growing up. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was united in marriage to Hugo Edwin Griess on January 29, 1919 in Sutton, Nebraska. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary that past January (1989). She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was united in marriage to Hugo Edwin Griess on January 29, 1919 in Sutton, Nebraska. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary that past January (1989). After they were married they farmed north of Sutton for a short time before moving to Lincoln. She was a homemaker and a dedicated mother. In her later years they lived in California for several years later moving to Sutton then to Lincoln. On February 4, 1989 they moved to the Nolde Center in Sutton where they have resided for the past few months. She was a member of the Hope Reformed Church at Sutton and St. John's Reformed Church in the United States at Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents (Henry & Elizabeth Lissman), son (Rubert H. Griess), two brothers (Frederick & Henry Lissman), grandson (Lon Plettner), and granddaughter, Penny.
