The son of John and Angeline Pherigo, he was born in Davis county, July 21, 1879. A resident of this vicinity all his life, he was an employee of the John Deere Ottumwa Works for 35 years and retired three years ago. Mr. Pherigo is survived by his wife, Neva; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Jacobs and Mrs. Pearl Shepherd, both of Ottumwa; four sons, Burnett, Earl and Harold, all of Ottumwa, and Clifford Pherigo at home; one brother, W.E. Pherigo, of Ottumwa, route 6; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katie; two daughters, two brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and his parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Bruce B. Matthews of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The following nephews will serve as pallbearers, Wilbur Richardson, Walter Richardson, Ray Champ, Orvel Champ, Earl Haff and Oscar Covert.
