"Brick" Adkins, son of Amos Roy and Bertha Ann (Pickering) Adkins, was born July 6, 1925, in Livonia, Mo., and died Tuesday, July 31, 1990, in his Lancaster home at the age of 65 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Noe, in 1977. She survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Myrel Reeves, Austin, Tex., and Liza Belle Burns, Hollister, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives including a sister-in-law, Gretchen Adkins, Hamilton, Ill. After the death of his father he remained at home with his mother and cared for her until her death. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School. He loved to read and listen to classical music. He served with the US Army in the Paratroop Corps during World War II. Services for Mr. Adkins were held Thursday, August 2, 1990, in Norman Funeral Chapel, Lancaster, with the Rev. Thomas Yoder, pastor. Music was provided by Ann Luther, organist. Special selection was "Moonlight Sonata," first movement, by Ludwig Von Beethoven. Bearers were Don Martin, Quinten Smyser, Boyd Crump, Paul Welsh, Ron Hoyt, and Charles Beeler. Honorary bearers were Herb Forsythe, Bob Melvin, Eldon Tallman, Jim Franklin, and Perry Stacy. Burial was in Arni Memorial Cemetery, Lancaster.
