Parrish Passed Away at her Home, Tuesday Morning, April 4, 3 O'clock Amy Caroline Parrish was born in Highland county, Ohio, March 5, 1847, and died at her home in Skidmore, Missouri, April 4, 1911, aged 64 years and 29 days. The funeral services were held in the residence Wednesday, April 5, at 10 o'clock a.m., conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. H. Sauceman and assisted by Rev. W. H. Welton. The burial took place in the Masonic Cemetery at Skidmore. Mrs. Parrish's maiden name was Hobbs, her parents being John and Elizabeth Hobbs. When the subject of this sketch was a girl of some four or five years of age her parents moved from Ohio to Indiana where her mother died and was buried in the same cemetery as was Lewis Parrish, the father of her husband, Joseph V. Parrish. At the age of 10 years she came with her father to Missouri, and was married to Joseph V. Parrish July 28, 1864 in Harrison county. Eleven children were born to them, Ara Belle Deffenbaugh, Hiawatha, Kansas; Elizabeth Barrett, Lydia E. Manchester, James I., Mary E., Grace L. Lyle of Skidmore and Martha A. Gill of Sheridan, Wyoming. The four who preceded their mother to the beyond were Wattie A., Thomas J., Emma F., and Ruth. The latter dying a few weeks ago. Mrs. Parrish had been a member of the church since early girlhood. Her whole life had been one of doing good to her neighbors. For years when she was stronger there was no sickness in the neighborhood but she was the first to be at their bedside. The last few years of her life she had been an invalid and knew it was only a question of time when she must go, she often spoke of death and said that when it was her maker's will, she was ready to go. Her greatest regret was to leave her devoted husband, who would so miss her when she was gone.
