M., October 14, 1920, aged 82 years, 6 months and 8 days. When a child she came, with her parents, to Iowa and when about nine years old to Van Buren County where almost all of her life has been spent. She was married March 21, 1862, to B. F. Whitmore of Bonaparte; also Laura E. and Allen D. who have "gone before." She also has a brother and sister yet living; Mrs. Victoria Michelson of Ashland, Oregon, and William Chapman living north of Bonaparte. And thus, briefly, is told the story of a long and useful life, -- a life that has well passed the allotted three-score and ten years. Uneventful? No; touched here by the wonderful high-light of love, and there by the deepest sorrows that shadow the human heart; brightened by hopes and darkened by discouragements, mellowed and softened by the years, let us rather say an eventful life, a life that has held lessons for all who knew her, if only we will see and profit by them.
