Description	:	Anastasia M. Novacek, 94 of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. wake service at the church. Visitation to resume Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Anastasia Mary Novacek, daughter of Joseph and Selma (Zoucha) Jarosz, was born February 19, 1916 on a farm near Tarnov, Nebraska. She was baptized in Tarnov and later moved with her parents to the Cedar Rapids area. She received her elementary education at St. Anthony's Catholic School. Joseph and Anastasia were married on January 3, 1940 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Following their marriage they moved to Illinois for 2 years where Joe worked as a farmhand, then to Clarks where they rented a farm for a year before moving to a farm west of Cedar Rapids in 1944. Anastasia was a lifetime member of the St. Anthony's Altar Society, served on the parish council board and helped out on various organizations in the community. She also loved gardening, flowers, chickens, playing cards, bingo and slot machines, and watching game shows and football. Joe and Anastasia both loved dancing and being with their grandchildren. On Wednesday, January 12, 2011 Anastasia passed away at the Boone County Health Center in Albion at 94 years of age. Joseph also passed away the same day, January 12, 2011 at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion at 99 years of age. Surviving Joseph and Anastasia are 4 daughters: Marian Epps and husband Earl of Myrtle Creek, OR, Margie Polenz of Bellevue, NE, Bobbie Lanza and husband Jerry of San Leandro, CA, Patty Bird and husband Chris of Bennington, NE; 3 sons: Jim Novacek of Cedar Rapids and Ed Novacek and wife Joan, all of Cedar Rapids, Mike Novacek and wife Joan of Primrose, NE; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson. Anastasia is survived by 2 brothers: Ed Jarosz and wife Rose of Omaha, NE & Vic Jarosz of Columbus, NE and one sister Marie Schaecher and husband Jack of Littelon, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters: Gen, Marcella and Katie; 4 brothers: Ted, Leonard, Richard and Mike and one son-in-law Dick Polenz. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Diabetes Association.
