Mr. Peterson had been on the streets here in the early afternoon on business and was feeling at the time so far as is known in his usual health. On returning to his home he complained of not feeling well and asked his wife to call a physician. She assisted him out of his coat and he lay down to rest. He suddenly seemed to tremble and then passed away instantly. Theodore Peterson was one of the highly respected residents of this community. Until a few years ago he was farming on his farm in the Swede Bend neighborhood and the fact that he prospered was largely due to his incessant application to his work. He endeared himself to his neighbors by his honesty and kindness and good will to all and his death is regretted by all. Theodore Peterson was born in Ulrika, Ostergotland, Sweden on September 10, 1854 and died at his home just west of Stratford on March 1, 1919 at the age of 64 years, 5 months, 21 days. He was united in marriage to Charlotta Carlson in Sweden in 1879 and this union was blessed with five children. Three of his children and his first wife have gone before him to their reward. In 1888, he came to America and settled on a farm in Swede Bend where he made his home until he retired in 1915 and moved to his place just on the western edge of Stratford. On April 5, 1905, he was united in marriage to Helen Carlson, who is left to mourn his passing. He is survived also by his two sons, Carl Peterson of Stratford, Edwin Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers, Charley Peterson of Rockford, Illinois, and Swen Peterson of Sweden; a sister, Eva Larson of Sweden, five grandchildren, other relatives, besides a host of friends who mourn his passing away. Deceased united with the Swedish Mission Church in Swede Bend in 1904 where he remained a good member to his death. The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.A. Nordstrom and the remains laid to rest in the Swede Bend Cemetery (Hardin Township Cemetery).
