Description	:	The Daily Huronite Newspaper Date unknown CAVOUR At his home here in Cavour, on August 17th, occurred the death of a pioneer resident of South Dakota, Andrew Gemmel. The deceased was born February 5th 1846, of Scotch parentage at Hyacinth, Canada. When he was a lad of ten years, his parents emigrated to Austin, Minnesota, where Mr. Gemmel grew to manhood. The deceased was born February 5th 1846, of Scotch parentage at Hyacinth, Canada. When he was a lad of ten years, his parents emigrated to Austin, Minnesota, where Mr. Gemmel grew to manhood. He removed to St. Paul, where he engaged as a locomotive fireman, being promoted to engineer. After his marriage, on May 17th, 1877, to Emma J. McRae, he removed to Cavour in 1883, and opened one of the earliest stores here and was still engaged in merchandising when the _____ winged messenger death called for him. His faithful wife and seven children together with three sisters and one brother, survive him. Of the children, Walter V. and the three daughters, Edith E., Blanche and Gertrude are at home. Athol V. is in the business at St. Paul. Arthur is in Pocatello, Idaho, while Howard the youngest son, is an officer in the U.S. marines and is stationed at ?Bremerton?, Washington. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday and was under the auspices of the A. F. & A. M. lodge, of ______, of which lodge Mr. Gemmel has been a member for many years. Rev. Mr. Stiles conducted the services for the family. Pall bearers were Otto Lather, A.M. Giles and Fred Gellerman of Cavour, and three from Iroquols. (poor microfilm)
