Description	:	Funeral services for A. J. Goforth were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Murdoch Funeral home and burial was in the Sugar Grove cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Myrtle Burr, who was accompanied by Mrs. Fred Reeve. Pallbearers were Claude Childs, Earl Snook, J. M. Samuels, Mr. Sampson, Karl Bach and Ed Meade. Andrew Jackson Goforth was born in Fulton county, Ill., on Nov. 10, 1849 and died Nov. 25, at 11:20 o'clock at the home of his grand daughter, Mrs Claude Childs of Davenport. He had lived in Newton for almost 24 years. On December 9, 1869 he was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Calkin and to this union were born seven children. One dying in infancy and one, Mrs. Mary Baker on July 9, 1930. He is survived by his widow and five children. Mrs. Effie Mummey of Milan, Mo., Mrs. Sadie Peart of California, Forest Goforth of Santa Monica, Calif., Frank Goforth and Mrs. William Montgomery of Newton and also 20 grand children and 24 great grand children.
