Description	:	Jack was born to Irving and Carolyn Young (Shampanore) Woodruff. They were divorced and she could not care for him alone, so let her sister, Elizabeth Virginia (Shampanore) and Albert Emmett CRATE adopt him. He graduated from North Plainfield High School and attended Blairstown Junior College. In 1951, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He had basic at Parris Island, South Carolina. He saw duty at El Toro MAB; Korea; Cherry Point, MAS, North Carolina; Viet Nam; and other stations. He retired in 1970 at Camp Pendleton, California. He then worked for San... He graduated from North Plainfield High School and attended Blairstown Junior College. In 1951, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He had basic at Parris Island, South Carolina. He saw duty at El Toro MAB; Korea; Cherry Point, MAS, North Carolina; Viet Nam; and other stations. He retired in 1970 at Camp Pendleton, California. He then worked for San Diego County Planning Dept. then for Carlsbad School District. Then for Wells Fargo and Burns Security at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. He was a certified genius with an IQ of 161; a member of MENSA, Toastmasters Club, Little Theater groups at various stations. He suffered from a condition called Synapse relapse which caused him to have black-outs and losing blocks of time. I met him at Cherry Point in 1959, where he was my best friend's NCOIC. We married at New Bern, NC and raised four sons.
