Description	:	A.J. Leffingwell was a "Horse Doctor". He came to The area southwest of what is now Exira in 1856. He bought land around what has become the Plow in the Oak Park. Later, he moved to Exira and ran a store in West Exira. He also raised trotting horses on an acreage where he retired in West Exira. He trained the horses without a whip and it was said that he wouldn't allow a whip on his place. He was successful as a veterinarian before there was a degree to go with the occupation.--"100 Years in Exira, 1857-1957", p. 47	A.J. Leffingwell was a "Horse Doctor".
