Read More	Rifle Telegram newspaper Passes To great Beyond Andrew James Ryan, the son of James and Abigail Ryan, was born at Fairview, Erie County, Pennsylvania, April 24, 1847, and departed this life at Rifle, Colorado on August 26, 1927, aged 80 years, 4 months and 2 days. He was one of nine children. The early years of his life were spent in and around his home working on the farm, later in the oil fields at Pittsburg. In 1879, at the age of 32, he came to Colorado, settling at Leadville. He spent four years prospecting and working in the planning mills. In January, 1883, he went to Piceance Creek, taking up the ranch which he lived on for thirty yars, and had just recently sold. He was married on October 11, 1886 at Copac, Michigan to Miss Harriet Burleigh. To this union one child, a daughter, was born. In the fall of 1915 he gave up ranching and moved to Rifle and had lived there continuously since that time with the exception of a few months three years ago when he went back to his old home for a visit. He leaves to mourn his departure, his daughter, Mrs. Edith Wilshire, and two grandchildren, Alfred and Florence Wilshire of Rifle; one brother, George W. of South Dakota; and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Zindle of Fairview, Pa. and numerous other relatives. Funeral services were held from the Presbysterian church Sunday afternoon, August 28. Rev. J.H. Gramps officating. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery with mortician F.E. Sayre in charge.
