Mr. Nelson health began to fail about a year and a half ago, and in spite of medical attention and loving care, continued to decline. Read More	Mr. A.O. Nelson, 68, died at his home in Eureka early Saturday morning, February 21. Mr. Nelson health began to fail about a year and a half ago, and in spite of medical attention and loving care, continued to decline. Andrew Olal Nelson was born in Greenwood County, Kansas, December 16, 1873, the son of Arne and Maddel Nelson. He was baptized in infancy in Fall River Lutheran Church and renewed his baptismal convenant by confessing his faith in Christ as his Saviour through the rite of confirmation in the same church at the age of 15. From this faith he never departed and was at the time of his death and for many years previosly a faithful and communicant member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eureka. Mr. Nelson grew to young manhood in Greenwood County. On May 24, 1899 he was united in marriage to Miss Ingeborg Olson, also of Greenwood county. To them were born two children. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Ingeborg Nelson, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Rockhill of Eureka; a son, Arne Nelson of Wichita; one brother, Carl Nelson of Eureka; and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Johndahl of Yates Center and Mrs. Martha Anderson, of Bronson; five grandchildren, Mrs. Dorothy Applegate of El Paso, Tex., Clayton and Delores Rockhill of Eureka, and Robert and Delbert Nelson of Wichita; and a large number of more distant relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Nelson spent most of his life in Greenwood county, a number of years as a farmer and during the past twenty years or more as the operator of a trucking service. Of sturdy Norse stock, he was strong in character even as he was strong in body and soul. In the years of his strengh, "a giant in the earth," admired for his staunch moral and spiritual integrity, his physical endurance, and no less for his intnense zeal and strong loyalty. He was a generous and loving husband and father and friend. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, February 23, from the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eureka, conducted by the Rev. Frisbie L. Young. The Baird Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. From Eureka Herald 26 February 1942 page 2.
