Vang, 80, who died early Sunday morning at the Coolidge Hospital in Palmer after a five-year illness. (Funeral details followed) Andrew Stephen Vang was born in Holstebro, Denmark on April 24, 1877 and passed away this life at the Coolidge Hospital in Palmer on February 9, 1958 at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 16 days. He lived in Denmark until 1900, when he came to the United States. Shortly after his arrival, Mr. Vang came to Wolbach where he spent the remainder of his life. He and Anna Johnson were married March 7, 1906. To this union, nine children were born. He farmed for many years near Wolbach until health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Farmers' Union and aided greatly in the establishment of the Farmers Coop Creamery and was an avid reader. While a youth in Denmark, he served in the Danish Army. He also attended agricultural college in his native land. It was in Denmark that Mr. Vang had been baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. When he came to this country, he kept his membership active by becoming a member of the Wolbach Danish Lutheran Church. After the Danish Lutheran Church ceases to exist, he attended the Trinity Lutheran Church. He leaves to mourn his passing: one daughter, Mrs. Anna May Schwartz of Grand Island, six sons, Stephan, William and Ethan, all of Wolbach; Harvey of Grand Island; Lloyd of Moab, Utah and LeRoy of Hollandale, Minnesota; twenty-eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Raymond; a daughter, Marie; 1 brother and two sisters.
