Description	:	Andrew Young Buchanan was born near Madison, Ind., March 8, 1857 and died at his home in Marquette, Kansas, February 9, 1921, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and one day. He was married to Mary Poston in 1877. She died in September 1921. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive: Carrie Recknor of Anaheim, Calif., Ray Buchanan, of Langley, and Hattie Hoffhines, of Marquette. Read More	Andrew Young Buchanan was born near Madison, Ind., March 8, 1857 and died at his home in Marquette, Kansas, February 9, 1921, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and one day. He was married to Mary Poston in 1877. She died in September 1921. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive: Carrie Recknor of Anaheim, Calif., Ray Buchanan, of Langley, and Hattie Hoffhines, of Marquette. Herbert Buchanan answered death's call in August, 1912. The deceased married in October, 1906, Mrs. Ula D. Brooks and to this onion was born one son, Ralph. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two sons, two daughters, one sister, three brothers, seven grand-children and many friends. The funeral Friday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Matthaei, was attended by a large concourse of old neighbors and friends. The services at the home were followed by a sermon in the Langley M. E. church. Interment in Forest Home cemetery, in Rice county. Mr. Buchanan's early life was spent in Indiana. Soon after his marriage he moved to eastern Kansas, from there he settled in western Kansas where the family suffered the early hardships of that day. In 1891 they moved to Rice county and built up the Buchanan ranch. Five or six years ago he moved to Marquette and retired. He was loved and respected by the citizens of every community in which he lived. He united with the Presbyterian church in early life. He was a member of the K. & S. of L. and the O. M. B. A.
