Mrs. Maiers passed away at midnight January 8, 1929 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Weydert, at the age of 82 years, eight months and 23 days. Death was due to the infirmaries of age and she had been quite low the past two months. She bore her illness patiently and uncomplainingly, and was tenderly cared for by loving children and relatives who did all possible to make her last days comfortable. The girlhood name of Mrs. Maiers was Angela Enders. She was born at Wolfeld, Germany, April 16, 1846, the daughter of John and Eva Enders. When she was a young child her people came to the United States settling in Dubuque County, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with Peter Maiers at Luxemborg, Dubuque County in 1868, and they immediately thereafter came to Chickasaw county, settling on a farm in Washington township. They lived on the farm one mile east of North Washington until 1909 when they moved to North Washington. A few months later, Mr. Maiers passed away. She kept her home there until falling health prevented her looking after the duties of the home, after which time she lived with the family of her daughter. Deceased was the mother of six daughters and three sons, of whom the following survive: Mary, widow of Beltcher Roethler, North Washington; Lena, wife of William Schluetter, No Washington; Christ Maiers, north Washington; Peter Maiers, Jr,. Mankato, MN,; Henry Maiers, Dubuque; Anna, wife of F J. Lentz, North Washington; Maggie wife of Leo Adams, Washington township; Kate, wife of George Weydert, North Washington. Two daughters preceded the mother in death-Susie, who was the wife of Matt Ries, and Lizzie, who was the wife of Joseph Schilling. She leaves 44 Grandchildren and 29 great grand children. Funeral services were held at the Immaculate Conception church North Washington, Saturday morning at 9:30 Mass for the dead being read by the pastor, the Rev Fr. P.J. Puetz and interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery at North Washing
