Angela Frances Block was born March 2, 1917, to Joe M. and Mary (Lewno) Block in Waubay. She attended grade school in Grenville and her first two years of high school in Mankato, Minn. She graduated from Webster High School. She then worked at the Day County Courthouse. She married Arthur Nicolay on June 28, 1938, in Grenville. They lived on a farm in the Webster area until they moved into Webster in 1944. They moved to the Aberdeen Living Center in 1996. She was a member of St. Otto's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, teaching piano lessons and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include her husband of Aberdeen; two sons, Jerry (Jan) Nicolay of Chester and Bill Nicolay of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Cindy (Louis) Kulesa of Webster and Linda Nicolay of Rochester, Minn.; one brother, Carl Block of Waubay; three sisters, Amelia Murschel of Aberdeen, Sylvia Dolney of Webster and Helen Stromseth of Eden; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister in infancy.
