Sylvia Marie (Sylvena Mary) Block was born on Sunday, February 25, 1923 to Joe M. and Mary (Lewno) Block on the family farm which was located between Pickerel Lake and Enemy Swim Lake east of Grenville. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Grenville and also attended country school near her home. Read More	Sylvia Dolney, 84, of Webster died on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Milbank Area Hospital in Milbank. Sylvia Marie (Sylvena Mary) Block was born on Sunday, February 25, 1923 to Joe M. and Mary (Lewno) Block on the family farm which was located between Pickerel Lake and Enemy Swim Lake east of Grenville. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Grenville and also attended country school near her home. On November 13, 1945 she married Jerome Dolney at Grenville, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1950 they moved to a farm east of Grenville where Sylvia worked hard to raise five children, keeping up the home, milking cows and the daily labor that a well kept farm requires. She also worked in Roslyn as custodian for the Roslyn School and in 1980 moved to Roslyn. She moved to Webster in 1981 where she worked part-time as an office assistant for the Social Services Office in the Day County Courthouse until full retirement. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster where she sang in the church choir. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the Grenville American Legion Auxiliary and the Webster Garden Club. She volunteered at Needs Anonymous and Webster Golden Age. She loved gardening, fishing, doing crafts, singing, music and dancing. She also enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and friends. Sylvia passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Milbank, South Dakota at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 19 days. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Dennis (Betty) Dolney of Waubay, SD, Duane Dolney of Spokane, WA and Dominic (Pam) Dolney of Webster, SD; two daughters, Deanna Nebola of Ames, IA and Donnette (Steve) Barndt of Elkhorn, NE; one brother, Carl (Doris) Block of Waubay, SD; two sisters, Amelia Murschel of Aberdeen, SD and Helen (Norbert) Stromseth of Eden, SD; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one "granddog." She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Agnes Block and Angela Nicolay. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster.
