Angeline passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge Angeline Keller was born on December 11, 1932 to George and Katherine Goldade in Hague, North Dakota. After her mother passed away due to an illness, the small family moved to South Dakota and settled in Firesteel when she was six years old. Angeline attended country school at Madison country school, 6 miles southwest of their home until the 8th grade. Angeline and Ervin Keller of Glencross were married on October 7, 1952 in Timber Lake. Angeline and Ervin made their home 7 miles west of Trail City. Ervin built their home from the ground up, it was where they raised their twelve children. Angeline belonged to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glencross until it closed, then she and Ervin became members of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake, where she was a member of the Holy Cross Alter Society. Angeline worked hard as a farmer’s wife and mother of a large family. She always had a large garden, partly out of necessity but also because it gave her pleasure to provide canned goods for her family throughout the year. She was well known for sewing and mending, often creating something from almost nothing. She spent a lot of time creating a patchwork of repair on all the jeans that wore out. She crocheted and quilted, taught her daughters to sew, and managed a large harvest from the garden. When her family was young, she had a brooder house full of chickens and sold eggs to neighbors. She and Ervin loved to travel and took many trips together including going to the mountains of Tennessee to see their son and his family, the Pacific Northwest, where they visited Ervin’s brother and many visits to friends and family in South Dakota and surrounding states. In the last few years, Angeline traveled to Tennessee and across South Dakota several times for holiday gatherings with children and grandchildren, a wedding in Pierre, and visits with her sister in Bismarck. She was always excited to go but so happy to be back home on the farm she loved. Angeline enjoyed gatherings with her large family. When asked, “How did you manage with so many children?” She would respond “one child took all of my time and the others didn’t take any more time than that.” She liked having the little ones visit, and she was clear that any mess they made could be cleaned up and should not be something to worry about. Even in the last few weeks of her life when she was so very weak, she found joy in the visits of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and a game of patty cake with one of them. Angeline is survived by 8 sons; Eugene Keller and special friend Marcheta of Etowah, Tennessee, Lyle Keller and special friend Mary of Beulah, Wy, Steve (Holly) Keller of Trail City, Wayne (Delaine) Keller of Timber Lake, David (Nancy) Keller of Rapid City, Gary Keller of Rapid City, Michael Keller of Omaha, Neb. and John (Nettie) Keller of Montevideo, MN, 4 daughters, Sheila (Joe) Scherer of Timber Lake, Diane (Martin) Wurtz of McLaughlin, Carol (Jon) Kaye of Sturgis and Sandy (Tim) Neyhart of Pierre, SD. 24 grandchildren, Sara (Michael) Hopper, Jeremy (Amber), Audry & Nicole Keller, Jessica (Ernie) Wurtz, Joshua Keller, Madisyn, Kenidee and Wylee Keller, Adam and Amanda Keller, Ethan and Travis Keller, Trisha and Ashley Keller, Lindsay (Todd) Landis, Aaron (Sarah) Scherer, Denise(Kenny) Glaser, Danielle Buechler, Christoper and Cara Kaye, Angi(Kal)Varland, Kimberly (Collin) Smith, Katherine Neyhart and 20 great grandchildren and a great grandson due in February.
