She was born on July 1, 1918 at Ava, MO the daughter of Victor Albert and Maude (Carrick) Dobyns. She was raised in the Ava community and attended schools there. Read More	The Eureka Herald, Jan. 31, 2002 Anita Hobbs-Flummer, 83, of Overland Park, formerly of Eureka, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Garden Terrace Care Center in Overland Park. She was born on July 1, 1918 at Ava, MO the daughter of Victor Albert and Maude (Carrick) Dobyns. She was raised in the Ava community and attended schools there. Following her high school graduation, she attended Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield, MO and received a teaching degree. On August 21, 1938 she was united in marriage to Hersel Ceburn Hobbs at Ava, MO. They resided in Ava until he entered the US Navy during World War II and they moved to California. Following her husbands discharge, they returned to Ava and in 1955 moved to Eureka to make their home. He was in the banking industry and owned and operated the Citizen's National Bank in Toronto. Following her husbands death on Sept. 12, 1967 she served as president of the bank. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eureka where she was involved with the United Methodist Women (UMW). She also held membership in the Eureka Country Club, the Eureka Area Chamber of Commerce and participated in Eureka Bridge clubs and on bowling leagues. In the mid 1970s she moved to Florida and spent winter months there returning each summer to reside in Eureka. On April 10, 1979 she was married to Raymond Flummer of Eureka, at Yates Center. They resided in Eureka and Florida until ill health caused her to move to Overland Park in Sept. of 1988 to be near her daughter and family. She is survived by her husband Raymond; daughters Barbara Simpson of Kansas City, MO and Tonya Hobbs of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren; and sister Jane White of Columbia, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; son H.C.Jr. and her husband Hersel. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka with Rev. Steve McVey, pastor of the Lamont Wesleyan Church in Lamont. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
