Description	:	The Hagerstown (IN) Exponent, Thursday, March 31, 1921 "The death of Mrs. Ann Burns occurred early Sunday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Leavell, two miles north of town, with whom she has lived six years. She was sick several weeks and was stricken with paralysis three weeks ago. Mrs. Burns was a native of Maryland, coming to Indiana when young. She was married here to William Burns, also from Maryland and they lived on a farm near here. After his death she moved to South Plum street, where she resided several years. After his death she moved to South Plum street, where she resided several years. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Church of the Brethren. Elder Oscar Werking delivered the discourse and the church choir sang the songs entitled, 'Abide with Me,' 'Some Sweet Day,' and 'Going Down the Valley.' There were a number of beautiful floral offerings. The bearers were: Edgar Lock, W. H. Hoover, Everett Sullivan, Albert Smith, Ernest Anderson and Moses Keever. Mr. and Mrs. Brown Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Joe VanCamp, of Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roller, of Yorktown, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown and son Robert, of Muncie, Mrs. Abbie Adams, of Lynn, attended the funeral. OBITUARY Ann Amelia, daughter of David and Mariah Brown was born in Washington county, Maryland, September 18, 1846. Died March 27, 1921, aged seventy-four years, six months and nine days. On Nov. 11, 1875, she was united in marriage to William C. Burns with whom she lived until his death March 1, 1900. All her married life was spent in Wayne County, Indiana. She leaves two children, Mrs. Ellen Adalade Leavelle, of Hagerstown, and David Brown Burns, of Anderson and one grandchild, George G. Leavell, of Hagerstown. Harry Brown was also reared in their home. One brother, Thomas Brown, of Missouri and sister, Mrs. Georgia Ellen Rowe, of near Hagerstown and many other relatives mourn her departure."
