McConahy, died at the residence of her daughter, 700 First Avenue, at 10:30 this morning. For the past twenty years Mrs. Witted has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. McConahy, and had she lived until the 13th of August would have been 83 years old. She Expires at the Home of Her Daughter After a Brief Illness Mrs. Ann Witted, mother of Mrs. F.A. McConahy, died at the residence of her daughter, 700 First Avenue, at 10:30 this morning. For the past twenty years Mrs. Witted has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. McConahy, and had she lived until the 13th of August would have been 83 years old. She was taken with grip about three weeks ago since which time she has rapidly failed. She was born on the Isle of Man in England and emigrated to America in 1852. The family first came to Canada, afterwards removing to LeClaire, Iowa, where her husband, Wm. Witted, died of sunstroke in 1853. In 1855- she moved to Chickasaw county, where she resided until 1874, and at the time of the marriage of her daughter, Lou, to Mr. McConahy she came to Cedar Rapids to make her home with them. She was the mother of six children, four daughters and two sons, four of whom are still living. One son. Wm. Wilted, is supposed to have been killed in the Mountain Meadow massacre. He was "known to be on his way to California at that time, and as nothing was afterwards heard of him, it is almost certain that he perished with the emigrants who were killed by the Mormons. The other son. M. E. D. Witted is a resident of Waseca, Minn. Mrs. Anna Massey resides near Chickasaw and Mrs. Eliza Stark, five, miles east of Marion. The other daughter. Mrs. Maggie Harris died in 1873 at New Hampton, Iowa. After a short service at the, house tomorrow morning at eight o'clock the remains will be sent to New Hampton at 8:50 for interment beside those other daughter.
