Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM, on Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska with Reverend Michael Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Ann Louise Perk was born June 16, 1926 in Bow Valley, Nebraska to Louis and Elizabeth (Lammers) Stevens. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School in Bow Valley and then graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington, Nebraska in 1944. Ann Louise received her Teaching Certificate and taught school in three Cedar County one room schools for four years. On August 2, 1948, she married Lucian "Bud" Perk in Bow Valley. After their marriage, they lived in Crofton and then moved to Bow Valley in 1952. Ann Louise had a very serious bout with polio but survived. They returned to Crofton where they raised five children. Ann Louise served as parish organist of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for many years. From 1969 to 1971, she was a teacher's aide for the Crofton School District and then from 1971 to 1979, she worked and managed the school lunch program. In 1979, Ann Louise and Bud moved to Sioux Falls where she managed the school lunch program at O'Gorman Catholic Schools until 1997. Ann Louise made many friends at O'Gorman and thoroughly enjoyed attending all the sporting events. She and Bud were very proud to have been involved as charter members in the establishment of the new St. Michael's Parish in Sioux Falls. Upon retirement, she took up painting and became a very accomplished artist, winning several awards for her many paintings. Ann Louise also loved watching the Minnesota Twins play baseball. In 2010, she moved to Yankton, South Dakota, living at Majestic Bluffs Retirement Community to be near her two daughters. Ann Louise is survived by five children: Richard (Deb) Perk of Lincoln, NE, Steve (Cindi) Perk of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Peg (Marlan) Schieffer of Crofton, John (Michele) Perk of Boise, ID and Doris (Tom) Heilman of Yankton; 12 grandchildren: Brian and Breanna Perk; Paul, Nick, Jana Schieffer and Sara (Carl) Livingston; Jason McLean, Corey and Alyssa Perk; and Lee, Alan and Jay Heilman; two great grandsons, Mason and Carson Livingston; and one sister, Alice (Bill) Lynch of Yankton.
