Description	:	Anna (McRoberts) Blakely Anna McRoberts was born in Ireland in the month of July, 1829. She came to America with her parents when but two years old. They first located near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where they lived 14 years, and at which place her father died. From there she and two brothers accompanied their mother to Mercer County, Illinois, where they resided. February 5, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas Blakely, and they lived in Illinois till 1868, when they moved to Poweshiek County and located on the old home place east of town. Here they lived a happy and... Read More	Anna (McRoberts) Blakely Anna McRoberts was born in Ireland in the month of July, 1829. She came to America with her parents when but two years old. They first located near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where they lived 14 years, and at which place her father died. From there she and two brothers accompanied their mother to Mercer County, Illinois, where they resided. February 5, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas Blakely, and they lived in Illinois till 1868, when they moved to Poweshiek County and located on the old home place east of town. Here they lived a happy and contented life, and last February they concluded to move to town and enjoy the fruits of their labor and toil. To them were born eight children -five girls and three boys, all of whom are grown to womanhood and manhood and are married, except the youngest daughter. The children were all present at the death-bed of their mother. At the age of 17 deceased united with the Presbyterian church and has always lived a consistent, upright Christian life, enjoying the love, esteem and respect of all who knew here. She was a model, ideal mother and neighbor and has been called to the reward of those who live Christ-like in this world. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. C. S. McEllhinny officiating and a large assemblage of relatives and friends were in attendance. Mr. Thomas Blakely and children desire to thank all who so kindly assisted them during the illness and subquent rites of wife and mother. Montezuma Republican 10-10-1894
