Read More	Dec 1892 - Carroll Sentinel - On Saturday last week, unrelenting death carried off the wife of Mr. George Pfarrdrescher from here at the young age of 22 years. After the deceased had presented her husband with a healthy baby girl 14 days ago, she became ill with an abdominal infection two days after the delivery. After just a few days, the condition of the patient was so critical that it was feared her life was in danger. But there was no lack of the most attentive care, and the attending doctor did everything possible to save the life of the young, suffering patient, but her condition went steadily downhill. Her deeply grieving husband, and her pain-filled parents and siblings soon realized that death was not far off, whereupon care was taken to ensure that the patient was prepared for a worthy hour of death. She frequently received visits from her spiritual advisor, Rev. Father Nacke, whereupon, being well-prepared, she surrendered herself to the will of the Almighty. Last week, from Tuesday to Wednesday night, it was already believed that the patient's suffering would soon be over, but her time had not yet come. She was granted yet a few days, which she used in preparing for the hereafter, until death released her last Saturday at 4:00. Those were the last days of a still young and noble woman, who was a dutiful daughter to her parents, a loving wife to her husband, and a devoted mother to her children. Everyone who was close to the deceased during her life, loses in her an honest friend and, realizing the greatness of the loss, one has the greatest sympathies for the survivors. The burial took place on Tuesday morning at 10:00. The Germania Verein [German Club], of which Mr. Pfarrdrescher had been an honorable member for years, gathered at their clubhouse at 9:00 in order to take part in the funeral as a group. With the club's flags bedecked in mourning crepe, the members, outfitted with emblems of mourning, marched to the home of the deceased, where many other mourners were already gathered. The funeral procession immediately started off for the German-Catholic Church, where a solemn requiem was celebrated. Many friends and acquaintances were already in the church in order to attend the ceremony and then to join the funeral procession in sleighs after the funeral service. It was a beautiful and large funeral procession, despite the fact that it was rather cold. The Germania Verein, which was almost completely represented, marched at the front, and then came the hearse with six pallbearers, Messrs. Seb. Walz, Wm. Hombach, J. C. Knudsen, W. Liewer, Jos. Wiedermeier, and Jos. Stendike, and then followed an endless line of sleighs and buggies. Thus was the deceased brought to the grave, and from the size of the funeral procession one could see how highly respected the deceased was and how much sympathy will be shown to the survivors. At her grave mourn a deeply sad husband and two children, her sorely afflicted parents, and four sisters, Mrs. Fritz, Mrs. Meyer, Franziska, and Dora. May she rest in peace.
