She was born on June 9, 1899 near Wyoming the daughter of John and Mary Ahrendsen Schladetzky and received her education at the Hale School. As a young woman Anna worked on the family farm and on August 18, 1920 she married Martin N. Petersen at Anamosa. The couple farmed north of Wyoming until the death of her husband in 1933. She then moved her young family to Onslow where she cooked at the school, worked in the grocery store, took in boarders and did home baking to provide for her family. After her family was raised she lived in several states from 1948 until 1957 with her daughter Wanda. In 1957 Anna moved to Wyoming where she lived until once again moving to live with her daughter in Florida in 1991. In 1992 she returned to Iowa and entered the Hallmark Care Center at Mount Vernon where she lived until entering the hospital. Anna was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church of Wyoming and was a member of the Sarah circle of the W.E.L.C.A. She also had been a long time a member of the Order of Eastern Star Peerless Chapter #435 of Oxford Junction, and the American Legion Auxiliary Wyoming Unit #259. She is survived by two daughters Norma (Mrs. Clifford) Balster of Fishtail, Montana, and Wanda (Mrs. Donald) Riggs of Starke, Florida, ten grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one sister Helen (Mrs. Willard) Larkey of Wyoming and one daughter in law Marie Petersen of Amana, She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, four brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 20, 1993at 10:30 A.M.at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming with burial in Oakwood Cemetery at Monticello. Rev. David Guetzke officiated. Friends called Monday from 4-8:00 P.M. at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming. Casket Bearers were Glen Hansen, Joe Larkey, Larry Jones, Loren Hartwig, Roger Schladetzky and Roy Holzinger.
