Services were held Friday, November 27, 1970 at 2:00 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Grant with Rev. Darwin Wassman officiating. Soloist, Mrs. Wilma Gengenbach sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Asleep in Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. Evelyn Gengenbach. Casket Bearers were Harold Gengenbach, Lowell Schroder, Elmer Malmkar, Tyre Nelson, Cecil Brixius, and Clayton Mrasek. Anna Caroline, (Lena) was born in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana to Peter Anthony and his wife, Maria Dorothea, nee Boe, on April 29, 1881. Lena was the second oldest child in a family of seven girls and two boys. When she was still a small child the family moved to a small acreage near Cedar Bluffs, Nebr. where her father had a store in town. Lena attended parochial school there and was confirmed in St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Cedar Bluff on April 7, 1895. Shortly after her confirmation they moved to a farm near Malmo, Nebr. On Feb. 13, 1901 she entered the holy state of matrimony with Henry H. Frahm. Their first years of married life were spent at Valparaiso, Nebr. Sickness necessitated their moving to Lodgepole, Nebr. After residing there a number of years, they moved to Plainview, Nebr. From Plainview the deceased and her family moved to Royal, Nebr. Here they lived for 14 years finally moving to Grant, Nebr. from Ainsworth in 1925. Lena entered Perkins County Community Hospital Nov. 14th, and after an illness of 10 days the Lord called her to her eternal home at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 25 days. Survivors are two sons; Ivan of Ogallala and Veryl of Boulder, Colo.; two daughters, Lilly (Mrs. John Couch of Omaha) and Gladys (Mrs. Harry Moller of Grant); three sisters, Mrs. Ella Jones of Fremont, Mrs. Amelia Jacobsen of Neligh, and Mrs. Hattie Gloyer of Whiting, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Anthony of Denver; 9 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, one in infancy and Allard in the summer of 1969, three sisters and one brother.
