Dirks, widow of John G. Dirks. Mrs. Dirks, 85, died in the Anamosa Care Center April 15. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in Wayne Zion Cemetery, Monticello. Anna Catherine Zimmerman was born in Cass Township, near Anamosa Sept. 27, 1895. She was the daughter of Ralph Zimmerman and his wife Margaret Brokens Zimmerman. She received her early education in the rural schools of Jones County. Anna Zimmerman and John G. Dirks were married Nov. 29, 1916 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello. After their marriage the couple farmed in Wayne Township, Jones County, until 1960 when they moved to Amber. Mr. Dirks preceded her in death April 1, 1969. Mrs. Dirks continued living in their home until two years ago when she became a resident of the Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa. Mrs. Dirks was baptized and confirmed in the Wayne Zion Lutheran church and was a life time member of Wayne Zion Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Esther Bohlken, Monticello, Henrietta, Mrs. Herman T. Harms, Onslow; and Ruth, Mrs. Albert Johnson, Monticello, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Sophia Stoffers, Anamosa. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, her parents, three sisters and five brothers. The casket bearers were David Bohlken, William Bohlken, Richard Harms, Robert Holmes, Russell Johnson, and Donald Johnson.
