Read More	SOURCE: THE ANAMOSA JOURNAL…JULY 25, 1935….PAGE1 RALPH ZIMMERMAN Ralph Zimmerman, son of William J Zimmerman and Hiemke, nee Huels, was born at Leerhafe, county of Wittmund, Germany, on May 2, 1866 and passed away at his home near Anamosa, Iowa, Sunday, July 21, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 19 days. When 16 years old he cross the Atlantic, and soon we find the young man working on a farm in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa Eight years later, March 6, 1890, he entered the estate of matrimony with Miss Margaret Brockens of Wayne Township, Pastor C. Mardorf officiating. The young couple at once began working the farm, 3 ½ miles north of Anamosa, which has been their home ever since, and where Mr. Zimmerman's sojourn on earth was to terminate Sunday morning, July 21. God blessed their union with 12 children, two of them He soon took away from them to a better home. Mr. Zimmerman was one of the organizers of St. Paul's Lutheran church, and one of its chief contributors. Mr. Zimmerman leaves to mourn his departure: his widow, five sons and five daughters, namely: Henry and William Zimmerman of Anamosa; Mrs. Anna Dirks of Center Junction; Mrs. Hannah Eilers of Monticello; Mrs. Emma Schafer of Langworthy; Mrs. Henrietta Harms of Amber: Fred, Sophie, Rudolph and Louis Zimmerman still at home; 17 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Wednesday, July 24, Pastor Matthias officiating. The Misses Grace and Lydia Andreesen, Frances Gerdes and Ruth Matthias sang two anthems; Miss Helene Matthias served as organist. Interment was made in the cemetery of Zion Lutheran church, Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa
