Mrs. Fries had gone to Soap Lake shortly before for medical treatment. Funeral services were held from the Community Church here, Tuesday, with Rev. J. N. Pendleton officiating. Read More	ANNA FRIES PASSES AT SOAP LAKE Had Been Okanogan County Resident For 41 Years Anna Katherine Fries, wife of U. E. Fries, died at Soap Lake last Saturday, September 17. Mrs. Fries had gone to Soap Lake shortly before for medical treatment. Funeral services were held from the Community Church here, Tuesday, with Rev. J. N. Pendleton officiating. Last lodge rites were performed by the Brewster Rebekah Lodge of which Mrs. Fries had been a member. Burial was in the Locust Grove cemetery. Pioneer Resident Anna Fries was born in Aalborg, Denmark, on June 25, 1863. Her parents were of Lutheran faith and she was confirmed in that church when 14 years of age. She became betrothed to U. E. Fries who sailed to America to find a home in the new world. Upon receiving word form Mr. Fries, she left her old home in Denmark on October 28, 1891 and made the long ocean crossing and traversed the continent to Sprague, Wash., where she married Mr. Fries on November 22. The newlyweds immediately started for the Okanogan country by team and wagon. They located on their ranch in the North Star district and have lived there since. Mr. and Mrs. Fries were among the earliest residents of this section and in their many years here have made hundreds of friends. Accommodating neighbors and energetic citizens, they contributed much to the up building and development of their home community and of this county. Eight children were born to them, of whom six with their father, survive the mother. The children are Signa Hanson, Roy, Wash., Jacob J. and Tulla Warner of this city, Emil B. of Vancouver, Sylvia Christianson of Twisp and Louise of Portland.
