Read More	Death of Mrs Anna Nickels Mrs Anna Nickels was born August 17, 1840, in Fayette county, Kentucky, and departed this life at her home in Marquette, September 13, 1923, at the age of 74 years and 23 days. She was married to James W Ballard of Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 12, 1870. To this union were born two boys and six girls, John and Rolla having passed on before. May 20, 1895, she was married to James Nickels, who passed on to his reward on June 2, 1918. In 1879 Mrs Nickels came to Nebraska, taking a homestead in this vicinity which has been her home until the time of her death. After several months of declining health, she was confined to her bed where she waited patiently for the last summons. During the last hours of consciousness, her only thought was of the Master and spiritual values. Her last words, "All is well with me," gripped the hearts of her loved ones and assured them that her soul was safe in the care of God. All her children were by her bedside with the exception of Mrs Bessie Turner of Wyoming, who recently returned to her home after an extended visit with her mother. The following are left to mourn her departure: Mary E Huston of Alliance, Hettie C Campbell of Kearney, Bertha S Heuring of Central City, Martha A Campbell of Morrell, Bessie Turner of Hot Springs, Wyo., Minnie J Stalnaker of Marquette, twenty-three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. At the age of thirteen she joined the Episcopalian church and later transferred her membership to the United Brethren church, where she has been a true and faithful member. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of Marquette and the Ladies' Aid of the United Brethren church. Since the death of Mr Nickels she practically made her home with her youngest daughter, Minnie Stalnaker, moving to her own home on Saturday before her death. The record of her life will ever stand as a living monument to her faith in God and in humanity. Her departure was beautiful and perfectly in harmony with her loving and unselfish disposition. She gradually sand and went quietly to sleep. "Servant of God, well done, thy glorious warfare's past, the battle fought, the victory won, and thou art crowned at last." Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at eleven o'clock at the United Brethren church in Marquette by Rev W S Henry, assisted by Rev Small, and interment made in the Richland cemetery.
