Mar 1900) 1931 - Retrieved from Newspapers.com on April 25, 2022 © The Waterloo Gazette; Waterloo, Nebraska; Friday, November 20, 1931, page 1 Mrs. Anna Hanson, pioneer resident of Douglas county and the Waterloo community, died at the family home about five miles southwest of Waterloo, Thursday, November 12, 1931, after a short illness, though she had been an ill health for several years. Before her marriage, she was Miss Anna Straman and was born in Hanover, Germany, June 18, 1865. She came to this country when about 19 years of age, and was married to Hans Hanson in this county April 12, 1888. She was 66 years, 4 months and 24 days old at the time of her death. Besides her husband, Hans, there are two sons, Glenn and Eugene and two daughters, Mrs. Homer Payne and Mrs. Chris Koch, all of Waterloo. Two sons died in infancy. In addition two brothers, Charles Stratman of Wilton, Wisconsin and Henry Stratman of Crab Orchard, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Kastenschmidt of Salem, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Sunday from the family home to the Waterloo Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge by the Rev. W. O. Samuelson of Valley and the Rev. Garth G. Gee of Waterloo. The services were attended by a very large number of old friends and relatives from this and adjoining counties. During the service Robert and Frank Warren sang "Does Jesus Care?" and "Homeland." Pall-bearers were John Clark, John Hofeldt, Fred Aughe of Ashland, Otto Schneider, Ben Safford and George Ennis.
