Description	:	The funeral of Mrs. John Maxwell, Sr., who passed away at her home at Cedar Rapids, last Wednesday morning, was held Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Primrose, of Spalding, assisted by Rev. Martin, of the Methodist church at Cedar Rapids, and interment was made in the west cemetery. Anna Dobson was born at Belliniha, Kells, county Antrim, Ireland, where she spent her girlhood days. She was married to James McCormick of that place, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. W. W. West, of Weehawken, New Jersey, and William McCormick of Bremerton, Washington, who were but infants when their father was stricken with the cholera and died. After working to support herself and her two children for about four years, she was again united in marriage, this time to John Maxwell. To them eight children were born, all of whom, with her children by her former marriage, survive her. In the spring of 1869 the family came to this country, locating at Manchester, Iowa, where they lived until 1872, when they emigrated further west, settling on a homestead on the Cedar in Boone county, Nebraska. In this community she lived the remainder of her life, with the exception of two years at Genoa. Rev. Primrose, who conducted the funeral service, mentioned in the course of his talk the fact that when he and his people came to Boone county in the early days, there were just three lights on the Cedar, and one of those was at the Maxwell homestead. Mrs. Maxwell was a member of the Presbyterian church of Dublin since its organization and lived a devoted Christian life. Ever faithful, ever patient, she was a loving wife and mother, and a good neighbor. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, one brother, five sons and five daughters, thirty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
