Description	:	Anna Elizabeth Novak was born to Frank J. Hamouz and Anna Koca Hamouz on Oct. 31, 1905, at Milligan. She passed away on November 8, 1997, at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont, at the age of 92 years and 7 days. She was one of six children in the family. Read More	Anna Elizabeth Novak was born to Frank J. Hamouz and Anna Koca Hamouz on Oct. 31, 1905, at Milligan. She passed away on November 8, 1997, at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont, at the age of 92 years and 7 days. She was one of six children in the family. Anna was raised on the farm near Milligan and attended rural country school near her home. She graduated from the Milligan High School in 1924, and then earned her teacher's certificate through the University of Nebraska. She taught at a rural school District in Saline County until her marriage in 1928. Anna was married to Joseph H. Novak of Geneva on September 10, 1928, and to them three children were born. They lived near Geneva until 1937, when they purchased a farm northwest of Fairmont. They retired to a home in Fairmont in 1984, and lived there until 1992, when her husband of 63 years passed away. In October of 1992, due to failing health, she entered the Fairview Manor. Anna was baptized at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milligan at birth. She was a member of the West Blue Extension Club and enjoyed the town neighborhood Birthday Club. Anna's primary concern throughout her life was her family. She spent countless hours story reading and playing ball with her grandchildren. Flowers and gardening, tatting, crocheting and reading were things she enjoyed throughout her life in leisure hours. A special time for Anna was harvest time and many a harvest crew looked forward to eating her famous fried chicken and kolaches. She often fondly recalled her teaching career and in later years wrote many letters of comfort to those who had lost loved ones. Anna also sent many cards with words of encouragement to those in hospitals. Many hearts were touched by this gentle lady who could convey to others the fact that she understood their pain. She carried many burdens, but never wanted to be a burden to anyone. She was always concerned with the lives of others, even in the midst of her own pain. Anna was a lady of immense patience. She and her husband, Joe, enjoyed many hours by the Blue River, picnicking and fishing with grandchildren. Family trips with their children and grandchildren were very important. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Hamouz; husband, Joe; daughter, Mary Ann; brothers, Frank V. and charles Hamouz; infant sisters, Alice and Georgia Hamouz. She is survived by daughters, Bonnie Kness and husband, Kenneth of Fairmont, Rosalie Kleinschmidt and husband Richard of Shickley; grandchildren, Gary and wife Deby Kness of Fairmont; Karen Kness of Lincoln; Russell and wife, Jodi Kleinschmidt of Shickley; Rick and Bridget of Orlando, Fla; great-granddaughter, Matyson of Shickley; sister, Rose Marie Hamouz of Milligan; sister-in-law, Josephine Hamouz of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Rex Brown of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Ella Novak of Crete; many nieces, nephews and friends, and her friends at the Fairview Manor. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Joseph Father Ulenberg Hall in Geneva on Monday, November 10, with Msgr. Ivan Vap officiating. Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied the congregation who sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand," "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Rick Kleinschmidt, Russell Kleinschmidt, Paul Novak, Tom Novak, Gary Kness, Rex Brown, Brad Greiner and Troy Greiner. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
