Mrs. Peters was born in Hassenbuettel, Kassel Wesselbuhren, Nordenditmarchen, Holstein, Germany, July 26, 1837. She was the third youngest of the seven children which were born to her parents and was the last of the Schwenneker family to be summoned to the heavenly home. At the age of 21 in the year of 1858, she left Germany with her father and sister in a [steam]ship.... Mrs. Peters was born in Hassenbuettel, Kassel Wesselbuhren, Nordenditmarchen, Holstein, Germany, July 26, 1837. She was the third youngest of the seven children which were born to her parents and was the last of the Schwenneker family to be summoned to the heavenly home. At the age of 21 in the year of 1858, she left Germany with her father and sister in a [steam]ship. Having arrived in New York harbor, they at once made preparations to journey to Moline, IL. About a year after they settled there, in the year 1860, she gave her hand to Mr. Peter J. Peters in holy matrimony. Up to the year 1880 they lived in IL, whereupon they moved to Auduon Co, IA. Here he farmed 12 years until 1892 when they moved to Exira, IA. It was only a period of 5 years that they were permitted to live together in Exira, then the Lord called her husband hence. This was Sept 25, 1897. After this she remained in Exira 5 years longer and from there moved to a farm east of Adair, IA in Guthrie Co, and from there to the present time she has stayed in Adair with her daughter, Mrs. Anna Wunder at whose home she died Sunday morning, Apr 13, at 8 a.m. Her death was preceeded by that of her husband and 4 children. She is now being mourned by 3 daughters: Mrs. John Lehse, Mrs. Wm Aupperle, Mrs. Anna Wunder and 3 sons: George F. Peters of Adair, Henry Peters of Huron, SD, Edward Peters; twenty-eight grandchildren & eleven great-grandchildren. Thus the memory of Mrs. Peters will remain in our hearts for mny years to com. The deceased was always a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Anna Wunder Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Otto Kohn. Interment occurred in the Schwenneker cemetery north of town.
